With a very special message of God's love to all people, Cynthia Clawson's amazing voice is an instrument all her own. It truly is an instrument of peace in these trying times. What a priveledge to see her on stage, to hear her loving and progressive message and to feel her spirit right here, right now. Thank you Cynthia Clawson, for all the efforts of the past that have brought you to us today. ((God's Messenger)) - Bev Anson ( from Fort Worth, Tx USA )
Cynthia, I'm not very eloquent, so I'll just say two things: first your album "River of Memories" is the greatest!!!!!!, and second, my wife and I saw you at a Gaither Praise Gathering many years ago when you came out in a flowing white robe, and since then my wife and I thought you were going to be special, if you weren't already. Thanks for you special talent! - Arnold Graf ( from Franklin NC )
My Dear Sister Cynthia,
I have enjoyed the presence of the Lord in your music since the late 1970's. I saw you sing "I Heard About A Man" on Sunday afternoon on one of the original gospel music shows. It may have been Doug ???? another singer. I was so blessed by your interpretation that I purchased the album. My friends laughed at me because they were all listening to the Hawkins, Crouch, Danniebelle and others. I loved all of them but there was a quiet presence in your music that touched me deeply. I didn't know it then but God was preparing me to be a worship leader. I ignored the laughter and hid away with Jesus and Cynthia and let the Lord take me to places He wanted me to go even if it meant I had to go with the laughter of friends in my ears. HA!
You and Danniebelle had a similar ability to interpret a lyric that was remarkably unusual. Both of you can/could really minister new life and joy into the hymnal. Today I am a pastor and a worship leader. I count you as being a key ingredient that HE used to bring me here.
I love you.

dear cynthia,
in 1980 when i first became a believer, i had your album (yes 33 1/3) haha, with "come Celebrate Jesus" on it, i since misplaced the album and have been trying for years to get a cd or cassette, with that song on it, no music store would try to special order it. after finally getting a computer, a whole new world opened up to me.....i now have your cd "Forever" and am so blessed to hear you sing your beautiful songs to our Lord, praise the Lord and thank you so much for you're beautiful music!!!! - natalie ( from sherman, texas )

Cynthia, I look forward to hearing you sing any song on the Gaither Gospel Hour. I always look for the red hair in the group and hope you will sing during the program. God has blessed you with a wonderful voice. It seems to just flow out as you begin to sing and the expressions on your face fit the words to the song.It often brings tears to my eyes. Now that I'm retired, I have more time to tune in on the daytime channels which carry the Gaither Hour. Thank you, you are a blessing and keep on singing. - Annie McMillan ( from Parkton NC )
Cynthia,
You have been a blessing to my life since the first time I met you at California Baptist College in 1972. I've always seen Jesus in you and heard his love and compassion in your voice. May the Lord continue to bless you and use you as His instrument of praise. - Don Fugate ( from San Jose, CA )

I AM A COUSIN TO YOUR DAD TOMMY. I BABYSAT YOU WHEN PATTY WAS BORN. YOUR DAD & MY DAD WERE IN THE MARINES TOGETHER IN WW II. SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR MOTHER. YOU LOOK JUST LIKE HER. I ENJOY HAPPENING UPON YOU ON TV. CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE DONE WELL. WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU. - nelda namasta ( from spokane, wa )
YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW HAPPY I AM to have found this sight and to have been able to order your 'classics' cd!! I've adored you since 1973. IN FACT, we met once at Christian Artist Music Camp in the Rockies about 400 years ago. You were this incredibly talented artist, and I a bumbling fool of a geeky fan!(I still AM!!!)
Really, I couldn't believe my eyes when I found "Broken". I'd just finished a two year term serving as an worker in a former Soviet Bloc country. What the Father must have seen you through to lay down those tracks!! I still weep when I listen to "Broken Heart". "We can't use it if it's broken..." WOW!!! You must have had a secret window into my life with that one. I just hope YOU weren't singing from experience!!
But now, 6 years into a life time of working with a minority peoples, I FINALLY find this new recording. WHAT A BLESSING...I think I might be able to stand it this side of Heaven(and the ocean)!! THANKS TO YOU!!!
With much respect, appreciation and love!!!
Randy

Greetings Ms.Clawson, high honors and blessing be unto you, as a child of the 80's I want to thank you for your song "Your Welcome Here" many are the days that that song would take to me another time and another place, it is one of the most beautiful of songs. thanks for being a blessing.. Friday night at Smith Chapel was awesome but I expect that from you. I always enjoy your lovely countenance and I am always truly blessed by your singing. I'm so lucky to know you! Ellen from Riverbend. - ellen ( from austin )

Hi Cynthia, I just heard what I think is your recording of, "What Wondrous Love is This?" on the radio. Wow!!! What a blessing! Thank you. I run a ministry called Heart of America Ministries. I don't have a web site yet, but will be putting one up soon. Right now I am working on a certification in biblical counseling. My husband and I are preparing our 16 riverside acres in up-state New York as a center for retreat, prayer and growth in Christ. I am sure I will be using your music in our resource center. Thank you for the blessing. I will be ordering soon. Christina McCarthy

Back about 1976 my wife Cathy and I had a 33 1/3 record album called (I think) Celebrate Life. On that album was a song called "I quietly turn to you". It was sung by an angel of a lady. Often as I listened to that album I would cry. My wife passed away a few years ago and I have been hunting everywhere to find the original record or at least a recording of that song by the singer. I hope that in finding this record I can bring some peace to my soul and heart. If anyone can help me find that song I would greatly appreciate it. Sister Cynthia, Mother Cynthia, Saint Cynthia, I don't even remember how I came to be on this website....must be a God Thing. Many of us only hope to touch just one, whereas, you have obviously touched so many. What a true blessing you are in every facet of your being. As a songstress, a pastor, a wife and mother, and friend you continually bless us all in so many ways. We are blessed by your music (dah!)and even more so by your spirit and grace which shines through all that you do and all that you are. It is an honor and pleasure to know you and Ragan and a blessing to have you at The Sanctuary. Stay the course and come to supper. Much Love, Bob and Amanda

Last night's concert at christ church was amazing. I was one of the teens who sang Carl's song with you. It was such a spiritual experience. The entire time you were singing i was holding back tears and finally broke down. I am a senior and have been debateing weather to major in some type of religious studies and possible become a preist. last night i felt as if God was talking to me and telling me this was the right choice. And i would like to thank you for coming and singing with us. God bless

Thank you! Your concert at Christ Church tonight was incredible - you and Bruce are so musically in-tune with eachother and I (who Dahn would tell you holds way too much in) was in tears several times. Then again, when I got home and I found out that one of the first times I cried was around 8 p.m. which was about the same time that our youngest son, Kade, called from Marine Combat training - I wondered why that song hit me so hard at that time - I think there was a part of me - or God telling me - that Kade had called and was ok. Thanks for an incredible evening and I'm so looking forward to the concert at St. J's tomorrow!

Cynthia Clawson ROCKS! What an awesome child of God you are. The way He has moved you around to inspire us to keep the faith. You sing for the glory of God & His Son & not your own fame. From the first time I heard you do Song of Solomon & that classical piece at the Crystal Cathedral I knew you were a true child of God. His deity & wisdom fascinates me also. It is so far beyond the typical religious powers. Your rendition of Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise, reveals that. There is so much I could say since I have an extra hour today from the time change and I am glad I was able to post here. I do hope I am able to hear you live if you ever come to Chicago or one of the churches near here. I wish we were related. But I know I am related in the spirit & will be able to share his praises as we all sing together around the throne in heaven. Not only do I thank God for the promise of spring time, but I thank God for you on a troubled earth. sincerly, in the name of Jesus, your brother in Christ, Glenn

I recently went to Jeanetta McFeron's husband's funeral and gave her a copy of my aunt and uncle's cd "Going Home" by the Stovalls. The next day, your cousin gave me three of your cd's and I have been blown away. Come to find out, you went to my family's church in Lake Jackson years ago and they were totally impressed and moved by your power. I was moved in the opening moments of A Trip to Bountiful in the late 80's. When Jeanetta gave me your cd's I did a double take and said I could not believe it. You are truly an awesome musician and I feel the power of your message and love your singing. I was so moved by your recording in the mission in San Antonio. I have been awed by the missions for the last 20 years and when I go to the TMEA convention I always make time to visit the missions. Thank you for your inspiration. You are wonderful. It was in the 70's. That makes me sound old doesn't it? We were at "Praise Gathering" in Indianapolis, IN. Met Don Francisco, Amy Grant, Noel Paul Stookey, etc. A night service. Opening was this lady, in white. Spotlight on her. Maybe an actual turbine on her head. She sang with no music. The song, I believe was Softly and Tenderly. We were blown away. So moved, so close to God. It was Cynthia and we have never been the same. We continued to attend Praise Gathering as did CC. I rememeber Cynthia talking about problems with recording or a recording company. We had purchased several tapes and did not know the impact that would follow. It appears that now the recording has began again. I only know that all the tapes we have are Wonderful! Because the tapes are old and unstable, I am converting them to CD. This has spurred this query and this mail. I am happy to hear that recording has began again. I am anxious to purchase a new CD. (I'd like to know which one to buy). It's hard to believe I'll hear a song better than "Softly and Tenderly" or the duet with Paul Smith, "Bring it to Jesus". Well, in closing, Glory to God and Thanks Cynthia! Kind Regards, Gary

Cynthia,Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I have loved your voice since I first heard it on KCBI in Dallas when I attended a bible college in the area. That was in the early 80's and your voice is still as beautiful as ever. I feel God presence when I listen to your music: so reverent, so awed by His power, so worshipful, so inspired by His love! I heard you in the early 80's at FBC in Grand Prairie, Texas. Amazing doesn't begin to describe your talent. I thank you again for sharing the talent God has given you so that others may feel as though they are in the very throne room of our Lord! God bless you as you have blessed others!

I was very happy to find your website tonight. I woke up this morning determined to try again to find out if you were stil singing. I have tried before to find out about you after having lost track for several years since I purchased "Hymnsinger" and "CarolSinger" tapes and then the books and then ordered a few accompaniment tracks ("Nativity Suite", "Suite: For the Beauty of the Earth..."). I've always loved singing the arrangements you've produced. When I tried to find more accompaniment tapes, the Christian bookstore couldn't pull up anything. For awhile I had people who could accompany me when I sang the songs that I didn't have tapes for, but now I'm missing that. Is there a way I could purchase the track for "Balm in Gilead" medley? Are any of your other accompaniment tapes now on CD's? I've been blessed by your ministry for years. You really know how to interpret a song! Thanks.

Ms. Cynthis, I, like so many, have been profoundly touched by your music and testimony. As a baby Christian in 1984 I heard you on KCBI in Dallas and sought out more of your music. As I listened to the soul stirring "Hands" I became more rooted in Christ and came to appreciate His sacrifice for me and His comfort as I experienced a heart-ripping divorce. God bless you for letting the world know He is alive and His love is real. He came to me through you so often. Gratefully Yours, Sandy

Ms. Clawson, I read with interest your latest musing. I respect your views on modern Christian music, but sometimes a little dogma is good! For instance, right now there's a new band on the scene called Casting Crowns, and some of the lyrics to a song of theirs that has gotten great airplay goes: "Jesus paid much too high a price for us to pick and choose who should come, and we are the body of Christ! But if we are the body, why aren't His arms reaching, why aren't His hands healing, why aren't His words teaching? And if we are the body, why aren't His feet going? Why is His love not showing them there is a way?" You see? There are bands out there willing to ask the tough questions of those who call themselves followers of Christ. A young man named Mark Schultz is also one of my favorites as well. Guys like Mr. Schultz and the Casting Crowns do their best, I feel, to not only bring God's message of hope to people like me, the "lonely, hurting, broken, dying of the world", as you say, a group of whom I am a charter member these days. Sometimes my own sense of abandonment and hopelessness is such that my sleep is not a peaceful one, and most days it's all I can do to get out of bed in the morning. And yet, if I can turn the radio on and hear Mark Schultz singing the words, "Somewhere in the quietness, when I'm overcome with loneliness, I hear You call my name, and like a Father You are near, and as I listen I can hear You say, 'You are a child of Mine born of My own design, and you bear the heart of life! No matter where you go, Oh, you will always know you have been made free in Christ. You are a child of Mine!'" You see, I think that's the heart of the matter for those of us broken souls. We want to belong to somebody, and we want somebody to belong to us. We are encouraged that somebody wants us and needs us. Don't you agree somewhat? Anyway, keep singing the way you want to do it. Keep telling us broken ones there is hope still. We need it. Kindest regards, Iris

Dear Cynthia, 8-2-04 I heard your live interview on KHCB this morning & really enjoyed hearing from you! Thank you for taking them up on the offer to do that interview. I would like to be contacted by email concerning your live concerts. Is that possible? I have been buying your tapes/cd's since the 1970's due to a friend of yours who turned me on to your music. Her name is Nancy Ahrens-Holdampf to whom you went to school together in Brownwood TX. I love your music & I love the Old Time Gospel's that you sing. They too are my very favorite. I come from a line of over 200 years of Baptist ministers & I use to sit on the piano stool as a very young little girl with my grandmother as she played those Old Gospels. For that I am grateful for those songs are very dear to me & have cared me though the years. Please keep those songs alive for many churchs have discontinued singing them. Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent with the body of Christ for as you know,Your talent is a gift from the Father God to bless those who cannot sing so beautifully as you for you sound like an angel from above! June 23, 2,003 Dear Cynthia, I sit here on the computer typing this at 2a.m. here in Rotorua, New Zealand listening by headphones to your Immortal CD. I am so far away from home in North Carolina, but my travels around the world have always included you. When I was teaching in Korea back in the early 80's, I flew to the summer camp in Estes Park and heard you there. In l997, I heard you at a church outside Washington, D.C. with my 5 guys that I took along who are in a house group for the mentally handicapped. Been here in New Zealand for almost 6 years, and always ask for your cds here, but you aren't known here and in Australia as you are in the USA. Your music touches me as you have something that a lot of people don't have in music; something in your singing that touches the broken, the outcast, and the rejected. You will never know how your music has touched me through the years as I continue on in this Pilgrim's progress of life. Its not been easy, but when I hear you sing, I get hope to go own and not give up. I love everything about you. Oh by the way, I also met you once at the Dove Awards in Nashville years ago when Robert Shuller was the main speaker. Big hair, big earrrings, beautiful dress. You sang a song acapella, and you outshown them all. I still remember it. Please keep me in your prayers as I am going through some incredibly deep trials and tribulations in my life. I don't know if you or your husband would be willing to email me, but you may. Even if you don't just to let you know how you have touched my life. Gary Denton, New Zealand

Dear Cynthia. I was looking for more of your music. I have had your Blessed Assurance CD since I took a senior adult group with the New Mexico Bapttist Foundation to the first Senior Adult Conference in Atlanta several years ago. You were there, singing acapella beautifully, and Art Linkletter was there. Both of you gave me a blessing. For whatever reason, I never bought any more of your music, but listen to the one I have at least weekly. I love it. It touches me every time. I've never gone to a website before to look for music, but was just rambling in the middle of the night, as I often do these days, and found another treasure. Your musings on rock collecting. I was stunned. I too, have collected rocks all my life, first with my Dad, and now that he's gone, on my own. Like you, not priceless gems, but simple rocks that remind me of where I've been or some special memory. I have many that are in my garden and also around my house. I've always thought it a bit silly, but I love my rocks, and I tell them often, if I don't praise God, the job will go to you, and I really want that job. But secretly, I think they are praising right along with me. When I lived in Albuquerque, I would drive home from work every day and try to move the Sandia mountains beside me. It never happened, but I knew that just a little more faith would do it, so I always tried. My mustard seed is just too small, but my faith has grown out of those thoughtful drives home. It amazes me how God can even use a rock to build us up and make us understand His grace. I'm going to Lifeway today to see if I can't find more music. Any suggestions? Have a favorite C? I'm going through radiation laser treatments right now, will end Monday, after two previous brain surgeries, but can only count this cancer as a blessing because it has opened so many doors and so many hearts for me. There are people all over praying for my miracle, but I'm just about convinced I already have it. I just need music to celebrate with. Have a great day and thanks agin for blessing me so many years ago. Pressing On, Micki

Cynthia, Hi this is Lee Young. We met many years ago when I was singing back-up for Bill Gaither. I have thought of you often and wondered how you were doing so I took a shot in the dark and found your web-site. I just recently saw the video "Thank God fo the Promise of Springtime". Your voice is still just as wonderful, and just as distinctive as it ever was. There are a very few singers that I consider to have really reached the point of what I call "instrument status". you have such a control of your voice when you sing it's like hearing Isaac Stern play a violin. One of my favorite songs to sing is your version of "Immortal Invisible". The arrangement still thrills me every time I hear it, and when I think I'm doing really good with it I turn it over to the demo side ond listen to you and get humbled. If it is still in print, I would like to find a copy of "Bring Back the New Again" if you have it collecting dust on some bookcase shelf. I believe my church needs to hear it.Keep singin' Lee Young

Cynthia, I was so glad to get to meet you at the Gaither Homecoming Concert in Dallas this past February. And also glad to have this website, it looks great. We (husband and I) have been fans of yours since discovering you on one of our first Gaither videos, and then I also had discovered an older cassette of yours, which included "It Won't Rain Alway" (Rivers Of Memories). From then on we were hooked. Your voice is beautiful. We love you. And then when my husband heard you sing "Go Rest High on That Mountain" on one of the Gaither videos, he immediately said he wanted that song played at his funeral, not someone we know to sing it, but to play Cynthia's version, clapping and all, so be it. I can also speak for a number of my friends who also love your singing, that your voice is awesome, and we look forward to seeing you again and continuing to enjoy your music.

I have been a fan of yours since way back in the early 80's. I had a tape (as a matter of fact, I still have it--it doesn't play well any more) that had the song "You're Welcome Here"--I loved it! There was another song on that album that was written by another artist (can't think of his name right now but one of his albums was "Blue Eyed Soul"). Can I still get a copy of the album that had "You're Welcome Here" on it? Preferrably on Cd? If so, I would love to know how. I have also seen you on a couple of Gaither Homecoming Shows. But I haven't heard you sing solo on any of those shows except once. I would love to hear you again. You have such a powerful and anointed voice. Keep Praising Him!! God bless you and your family!

Dear Cynthia, I won't fill up a lot of space with my comments, although I must admit - presently my eyes are filling up with tears. It is because for the first time in 10 years, I am returning to the Lord who loved us so much that 'He withered up a tree'. The aforementioned lyric is of course, from a song of yours that I would dearly love to purchase. 'I Heard About A Man'. If my memory serves me properly, it is from an early 80's LP entitled 'The Way I Feel'. Another Cynthia 'golden' I'm searching for is 'I'm Gonna Finish The Song This Time'. You were featured vocalist on that cut for an orchestra, the name of whose leader has longed escaped my memory. Finally, the LP 'Forever' which includes a song 'When Jesus Has A Hold On You'. Thank you for your ministry that has endured through the years. Best to you and your family, including your sister who I met when you did a concert in Baltimore back in 1986. Think her name is Patti? Take care, your friend Bob

Cynthia, your music has been the sung essence of my life in Christ and the voice of contemporary Christian music with which I most completely identify. Circa 1994 I heard you sing a Gloria Gaiter lyric which was set to the old tune of "In the Gloaming." Is it still possible to buy the cd on which this was recorded? I'm sorry I cannot remember the title...only a few words..."It was best for me to go...best for you and best for me..." Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question. Your ministry has blessed our family since the early 1980's, particularly at Christmas. We're not even sure of the song's name, but it's been a part of our Chrismas for nearly 20 years. The theme of the song was that we should be the gifts for Jesus' birthday. With that in mind, in the weeks that preceed Christmas each family member prepares a gift to offer up for Jesus on His birthday. It might be a picture, a skit, a poem, etc., anything we'd like to give Him. Then the evening of Christmas Day, when all the busyness of the holday is over, we play your song and then offer our gifts to Jesus. In a way, you've been a part of our Christmas all these years too. Thank you.

Cynthia! I "discovered" you in 1998 right after my husband of 53 years passed into the Lord's Presence...Followed you to Bakersfield concert and Loma Linda...So glad to have a website for you now. Like many others here I grew up listening to your music. I'd love to get sheet music or backtracks for some songs - esp. the older 70 - late 80's songs. Is there a chance of re-releasing the old LP's and Tapes from back then. Those songs are a treasure that should not be lost in our memory alone. Keep sharing God's Love in Song!! Thank you!

I am looking for a copy of an early recording of Cynthia Clawson's All I know is that the chorus of the song is "Ye who are weary of sin" If anyone has a recording of it, knows how I can get it, or the music (lyrics) for it...... I could really use it. Thanks!

Hi Cynthia, I've been a fan of yours for almost thirty years--and I've loved the various styles of music you have shared with us (although I must say I am partial to the up-tempo southern gospel style) and was wondering if you plan to be out in California anytime soon? If you come--we will follow!!

hey cynthia, i first layed eyes on you when you sang with 3 in 1. you had on an outrageous pink dress with your hair in a fro and your fingernails painted black - early 70's??? the song from your soul has been mentoring me for a long time, teaching me to "dance in the grass." Thanks for being vulnerable and courageous in your music. you said you had access to piano music for "Carol Singer" and perhaps "Hymn Singer." just let me know my part in this at your convenience. I am enjoying the 2 cds i bought at the intimate saint marks concert. my husband, John, hopes to book you for a concert at our church in the near future. thanks, again, for sharing yourself in your art. dana

I am so pleased that you now have a website. I was introduced to your music in 1999 by my siser. I can't explain how beautiful and soothing I find your music to be. I play it constantly when I am driving to and from work, and any other time I have opportunity. Since 1999 I have, I believe, collected every recording you have made. They vary from CDs to LPs. I think there are 17. I also have three of your videos.  I seldom hear your music in West Virginia, although I have attempted to promote it. God Bless. Joan Ratliff

My wife and I feel most priveledged to be one of the first people to be signing the guestbook of the incomparable, Cynthia Clawson! We both cannot begin to say how much she means to us both. I first heard Cynthia back in the late 70's while listening with my parents. Album's like "It Was His Love", "In the Garden" and "Forever" filled our lives with a certain peace that God sent forth thru the melodious voice of Cynthia. My wife knew how much I loved Cynthia's music so she had one of the biggest surprises of my life by booking Cynthia to sing at our wedding celebration June 29, 2002. Some of the songs that Cynthia sang were: "Words and Music", "One More Dayspring", "Bring It to Jesus", "My Mother's Faith", "Trust His Heart" and a beautiful "medley" that only Cynthia herself could come up with. It is one of the greatest memories that I, my wife and especially our parents will cherish for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much Cynthia for your "words and music" and we look forward to more of music that is truly inspired by God. Patrick and Kelly Williams
