A Private Showing
In late 1978, Cynthia went to Woodland Sound Studios in Nashville, Tennessee and recorded “A Private Showing” (often referred to as “The Brown Album”) before an invited live audience. Produced by the legendary Buryl Red with his signature producer's touch, only 500 copies of the original album were ever pressed! Cynthia, her husband, prolific lyricist and playwright Ragan Courtney, sister Patti Clawson Berry and poet Paul Pate wrote the words to the songs. Cynthia composed the music. The result was an honest and introspective collection of twelve songs about losing and loving—and experiencing the divine wonder of life. In classic “Cynthia” style, she pushed the boundaries of traditional gospel music with creative songs that were poetic, melodic and spiritual. For years, fans have asked that Cynthia reissue the album, since most had not actually heard it, but had heard about it. Until now, this rare album has never been reproduced and has remained a lost classic since the album was pressed in 1980!
